New Zealand Workshop #2: Crazy Quilt Bag

Lynne Churcher was a guest tutor for our second hands-on workshop. The project was a crazy-quilt stitched tote bag called a Belle Bag. We used traditional crazy quilt techniques (and some modern) to apply a variety of fabrics to a muslin base.

Then, we used decorative sewing machine stitches to eover all the seams, as was the practise with crazy quilts (except hand embroidery stitches were used).

Then, yarns, tapes, decorative cords, etc. were stitched on the surface of the fabric.

Once the base fabric was created, we continued to construct the bag.

Here are some of the results.
