The Latest Fashion Accessory... a Python "Boa"

So, here it is... one of my 'fashion finds' from my travels to Vietnam. Travel with OAT provides lots of adventures, and here I am trying on a new accessory. Here is my Python "Boa". What is a boa? It is a long fashion scarf, generally made of fur or similar. What is a python? Well, it is a snake, found in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam.

btw.. the lump you see on the left side of the snake, was his snack, a duck. Supposedly, the snake can eat it whole, and digest it for the next two week period.

Hauling a Load.. on the road

I am constantly amazed at what people can get on their bike, motorbike or truck, here on the roads in Vietnam. Take a look.

I'll never complain about hauling goods again!

Cardboard
Rolls of 'something' in the rain.
Fabric?
'Stuff'.. (how does he stay balanced in the wind?
Soft Stuff

Some kind of plant material..

Fashion Helmets

Another fashion accessory of Vietnam that is new to me is the cycle helmet. Yes, we have helmets for our bikes and motorcycles in the States and Canada, but the ones I see here are different. Given that so many people ride motorcycles, scooters, bikes, etc., and the driving is a little hectic, I would say that the helmets are a necessity.

Try crossing the street (on foot) through a maze of cyclists and you will quickly see what I mean.
So, here are a few shots of the helmets I see, and at the end, the one I an hunting for to buy to take home.

This is the style I am looking for.... a little Burberry look.

Face Masks as a Fashion Item

One of the most interesting fashion accessories I've seen here in Vietnam is the Face Mask. Originally utilized for hygiene and as a protection from pollution, these masks have now become a serious fashion item where the wearer can express their individuality. Some styles are shaped to mold the face, while other masks are creatively put together from a handkerchief or other source.

Here are a few examples:

Texting... a new version

So, here is a new take on texting. Ridig side-saddle on a moving motor bike, on a crazy, busy street in Noi An, Vietnam.

Pattern in Vietnam

Here I go again... finding 'pattern' in the world around me.

The steps of a hotel near China Beach.
A window in the Citadel, in Hue, Vietnam.

Rain, Umbrellas, and Kids

What is it about the rain? Despite it all, it makes people laugh. Life in a small town, outside of Hanoi. School children, on their way home.

Fashion in the Windows of Hanoi

For the record.. the skyline of the previous blog entry was from Bangkok, Thailand. Our group spent the night there, before flying to Hanoi, Vietnam.

So... how is the fashion in Hanoi? I must say, I am impressed. Here are three coats as seen in one store window. I was wishing I owned one of them, as it has been cold and wet.

I am witnessing fashion from many viewpoints. So, keep posted.

Travel Time... and a Skyline

I have just started a travel adventure where I will see costume (traditional) and silk production. This is city scape/skyline of our first city of arrival. Can you guess where it is?

More to follow....
