This evening we had the most beautiful sunset here in the San Diego area. I took my camera out to the backyard and shot a few images. You see one of them here.
Did you know that you can use Stitch Painter to help you create palettes for your projects? Using the Full Color Import module and Stitch Painter, you can bring a picture into the program and perform a color reduction and gridding process. Whether you ever use the gridded image is irrelevant... what you want is the palette.
The sunset image was reduced to 8 colors and you see the palette here. Now you can choose your yarns or fabrics for a project based on the colors you pulled from the amazing evening that just occured.

How is the progress going on tweaking Stitch Painter to accommodate at least the principal suggestions I sent a few years ago, such as coding to Paterna colors; allowing the user to choose not just upright rectangular grid cells, but--important for mimicking the actual results, in order to check for holes, or thick spots--slanting the grid to left, or right, based on left/right hand use; and allowing the user to choose the stitch count base (I use 18 hole canvas, not 10), and so forth?
Regardless of these important tweaks, I heartily encourage everyone to use this marvelous program.
