Color Quotes… and a game to play...

Last summer, when I went to Florence to attend the Pitti Filati yarn trend show, I went to an exhibit at the Ferragamo Shoe Museum in Florence. The theme of the exhibit was Color. There was one room that featured quotes from various artists, about color.

Below are the quotes… See if you can figure out from the list of artists… who authored each quote. I shall put the answers in the next Blog entry. And, for those of you who want to try Italian, I shall also put the Italian, as I wrote it down.

Color is all. When color is right, form is right. Color is everything, color is vibration like music; everything is vibration.

The new art will really begin when we understand that color has an existence of its own, that is infinite combinations have a poetry and a poetic idiom for more expressive than anything else that has ever existed.


Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions.


Color above all, perhaps more than drawing, is a liberation.
